Bankruptcy Counseling Certification

Pre-filing Bankruptcy Course – Cost: $25.00

Before filing for bankruptcy, the United States Bankruptcy Court requires consumers to take a Pre-Filing Education Course. This course provides a financial briefing that outlines the opportunities for available credit counseling and includes a budget analysis of 180 day period preceding the date you file bankruptcy.

Counseling sessions take anywhere from 45 minutes to 1½ hours. Following this counseling, you will receive a budget analysis and a certificate. The certificate must be filed with the court along with your bankruptcy paperwork.

Post-filing Debtor Education Course – $25.00

Once the Pre-Filing Bankruptcy Course has been completed and your case has been filed, you must complete the Post-Filing Debtor Education Course prior to obtaining a discharge of your debts.
